■ WEXFORD Rotary Club raised € 38,000 for the people of Haiti through its recent Shelter Box appeal.
The money will be used to provide Shelter Boxes containing tents, blankets, cooking utensils, water purification tablets, mosquito nets and basic tools for some of the hundreds of thousands of people who were left homeless following the devastating earthquake earlier this year.
'We would like to thank all of the many people who have contributed with such generosity to this cause; the schools and clubs who have thought up innovated ways of raising funds, the staff of businesses across the county who have used their initiative to raise money and most of all the public for their fantastic support,' said a spokesman for Wexford Rotary Club.
