The past record of a Bray man facing conviction for shoplifting from the Wexford branch of Tesco was considered by Judge Gerard Haughton.
Evidence against Mark Brady (22) of Avalon, Oldcourt Park, Bray was heard in the Wexford District Court on a previous occasion.
During the course of that hearing, the accused stated that he had no previous convictions but it turned out that this was not the case. Back before the judge on October 13, Superintendent John McDonald had a list of convictions ready to read out.
The judge learned that Brady convicted of being on the road without the required L plates earlier this year.
He was also guilty of having drugs for sale or supply. One count of theft also showed up on the record, dating back to 2008.
Solicitor Tim Cummings pointed out that his client was just 15 years old at the time of the theft and he felt this conviction was not relevant. A fine of €200 was recorded for the offence committed at Tesco on August 13.
