3D printer boost even if it can't 'print houses'

THE purchase of a 3D printer by Wexford County Council was welcomed by councillors.

Director of Services John Carley said council staff saw a 3D printer at Colaiste Abbain in Adamstown and were taken by it.

He said one was acquired for Wexford Library, adding that staff will be trained in how to use it over the summer.

'If it is successful here we will look at a more long term prospect for all four libraries. We'll look at the demand for it. I think it's a welcome development. 'Can it print houses?' Cllr Barbara Anne Murphy said. 'I'm not sure, but it can certainly do a 3D model of one,' Mr Carley replied.
