€400 'after hours' fine

A €400 fine has been imposed on the former licence holder of an Adamstown pub for serving alcohol after hours.

Maura Cullen from Cullen's Pub in the village was charged with keeping the premises open for the sale of alcohol after hours on November 25, 2011.

Inspector Pat Coady explained that 16 people were found inside the bar on the night in question.

Defence solicitor Ed King explained that his client was the licence holder at the time, however she has since handed over the licence to her son.

The court heard that the pub has been in the family for three generations and he appealed to Judge Haughton not to record a conviction.

A €400 fine was imposed.
