€400 fine for careless driving
A 21-YEARS OLD motorist who made a manoeuvre to get out of the way of two speeding cars, was fined €400 at Wexford District Court for careless driving.
Gavin Walsh, Redshire Road, Murrintown collided with one of the cars as he turned right on the N 25 on Clonard Road on June 21 2011.
A garda who was called to the traffic accident said the defendant collided with the car as he attempted to turn right towards Piercestown between the Rosslare Road and Whitford roundabouts.
Siobhan Dunne, solicitor said there were two other cars involved in the incident.
She said her client was stopped in the lane allowing him to turn right.
He saw the headlights of two vehicles approaching at speed on either side of the carriageway.
He understood that the drivers of the cars were in conversation with each other while driving along.
His feeling was that he should make the manouevre to get out of their way.
Ms. Dunne said the defendant broke his forearm and suffered flashbacks and disturbed sleep after the accident. A non-smoker and non-drinker, he had never been in trouble before and she believed he would never be in court again.
