WEXFORD is to get a €4.7 million shot in the arm for public house building as part of the government's capital assistance scheme.
A total of €2.2 million will go towards funding a 14-home development at St. Aidan's Road being built in association with the Cluid Housing Association, while €1.8 million has been earmarked for 16-home development in associated with the Grantstown Sheltered Housing Association.
A further €700,000 has been set aside for a number of new county council homes across the county.
Commenting on the grants, Cllr George Lawlor said the development at St. Aidan's Road was on a derelict site for which 'at appropriate development had at last been found.'
