AROUND 50 people attended a Marriage Equality meeting at the SIPTU offices in Wexford.
Organised by former councillor, Joe Ryan, the meeting was addressed by Minister Brendan Howlin, Michael Londra, Mayor Cllr. George Lawlor and blogger and journalist Anne Marie O'Connor.
Each of the speakers outlined their views and feelings and how important it is that the status of marriage and equality for all should be enshrined in the constitution. Addressing some of the concerns raised by the 'No' campaign, Minister Howlin drew a parallel with the Civil Rights movement in the United States, saying that at one time black people in Alabama had their own buses, but then as now 'it is all about equal treatment of our citizens'.
