A revealing look at Wexford town's watery past
THE recent floods stirred memories of an even wetter Wexford town in the days before the main drainage scheme came into being.
This shocking image of Casa Rio shows the unbelievable volume of water pouring through the houses after the Horse River burst its banks and flooded all the way along Distillery Road to King Street and beyond. The picture, probably taken in the late 1960s or early '70s, was sent in to us without any information as to when it was taken or by whom, so if you can fill in the gaps, please contact David Tucker, at the Wexford People, on 053 9140130. For a comparison between then and now, our photographer Ger Hore took a picture on the same row of houses today.
