Another prize for swim star Grainne
THE ACCOLADES just keep coming and coming for swimmer Grainne Murphy.
Following her outstanding success at the European Championships, Grainne has been announced as the August winner of the Irish Times Sportswoman of the Year Awards.
The judges had a tough time on the hands deciding the winner for August as the month was filled with achievements by Irish sportswoman, with Katie Taylor's third consecutive gold medal at the European Union boxing championships in Hungary, the start of Ireland's rugby World Cup campaign, Galway and Wexford's All-Ireland semifinal victories in camogie, and Dublin's advance to the football final, where they will meet the winners of the replay between Kerry and Tyrone.
However, with all the potential award winners, the remarkable achievements of Gráinne Murphy and squash player Madeline Perry saw the judges to make their second double award of the year.
