Wexford Housing action Group is appealing to landlords and letting agents able to help them find accommodation for more than half a dozen needy families in the run-up to Christmas.

The community-based group was formed by members of the public who have been affected by austerity and the housing crisis.

'We feel that regardless of circumstances that every person deserves a home.

'Presently we are supporting several families in the local area, but the reality of the situation is that Wexford County Council have no social housing available,' said the group's Aislinn Wallace.

'These families are in desperate need of assistance.'

The group is currently looking for a three bedroom House (preferably A bungalow) for one of its recent cases - Claire Malone and her two sons who are in council housing after the local authority gave her time to find a suitable home following the death of her partner in whose name the house was registered.

Other urgently needed properties are a three bedroom House for a single father and four children, a three bedroom house for a single parent and three children, a three bedroom House for a single parent and two children, a 2-3 bedroom house for a single parent and two children and two dogs, a three bedroom house for a single prgnant mother with three children, a house share or bedsit for a single male and a two bedroom house or apartment for a council swap.

If any landlords or letting agents feel they may be able to offer assistance please contact Aislinn on 086-8843975 or Ursula on 086-0500099, or you can contact the Wexford Housing Action Group and Action4U pages though Facebook. References are available for every prospective tenant.
