Asylum-seekers sent back to France

Four Iranian asylum seekers were deported from Ireland after arriving an an Irish Ferries vessel at Rosslare Port.

The two men and two women told gardaí that two of them had arrived in Italy on a boat from northern Africa, while the other two landed in southern France in a small boat before attempting to make the crossing.

They later claimed they had paid thousands of euro to a people-smuggler. The group was sent back to France late last month where their statements later led to arrests.
