A spoken word performance featuring the author Peter Murphy and eight participants on a free mentoring programme supported by Wexford County Council, will be presented in Wexford Arts Centre this Friday, July 28 at 8 pm.

Peter and his proteges Sinead Furlong, Hannah McNiven, Deirdre McGarry, Jonny Murphy, Calvin Everett, Kasey Shelley, Aoife Cody Keane and Maria Cullen will be joined on stage by the Hennessy Award nominated Colm Keegan and the provocative solo performer Temper Mental Miss Elayneous who also tutured the students during the month of July.

The Seed to Stage programme was built around the the interests of the participants and incorporated the spoken word, slam poetry, prose with music and rap. It was supported by Wexford County Council's Artist in the Community Scheme. Admission to Friday night's show is €5.

Peter Murphy, a former Hot Press journalist and novelist who wrote John the Revelator and Shall We Gather at the River, is a seasoned spoken word performer as well as being a writer.
