Award for local fitness instructor

A WEXFORD town man has become the first kettlebell instructor in Leinster to attain a national qualification after completing a course with seven-time world champion Vasily Ginko.

The legendary Latvian lifter hosted the National Kettlebell Instructors Course in London recently and Wexford's Mick Kelly was one of those to complete the intense course, which featured a host of aspects through a number of physical and written exams.

Mick, of Total Fitness Systems in Westpoint, Clonard, also recently became an Irish champion kettlebell lifter, while several of his charges also took home medals from the event in Kilkenny.

Mick was also keeping a keen eye on the All-Ireland camogie finals at the weekend as many of the Wexford players have also been using kettlebell training to give them a competitive edge this year.

He will be holding a three-hour beginners kettlebell workshop on October 2 next.
