Barntown youths lend a helping hand

YOUNG PEOPLE in Barntown demonstrated their community spirit by forming a team to help people affected by the snow.
They ran shopping errands for people confined to their homes and ferried water for householders whose pipes froze over.
The initiative was coordinated by Tony Dempsey and commended at Masses in Barntown Church on Sunday by the local curate Fr. John Carroll.
'It gives us an idea of the fount of goodwill, ability and decency that is on our doorstep and it augurs well for the future as we realise our need to work together and help one another', he said. ' It gives us concrete proof of the enduring nature of parish life and christianity as it is lived'.
