A GROUP group of North Wexford businesspeople say they have seen a massive increase in business growth over the last few years and they have attributed this success to networking through their BNI membership.

By the time the Gorey Chapter met for its 350th meeting on December 1, they had passed over 4,612 referrals, and reported €3.5 million of business done within the group since it was founded. Philip Cullen, membership co-ordinator of the chapter, confirmed that the group is growing from strength to strength, with over €630,000 in business closed already this year, with an average referral value in excess of €644.

'We meet every Tuesday in the Ashdown Park Hotel at 7.15 a.m. where we welcome visitors and members alike,' he stated. 'Each member is vetted and referenced checked and has to adhere to a code of ethics. During our meetings we concentrate on helping each other gain more business through referrals.'

'"Givers Gain" is our philosophy: If I give you business, you will want to give me business in return,' he said.

He explained that only one person from each profession or trade can join a group which gives each BNI member a distinct advantage over his or her competitors.

BNI claims to be the most successful business networking referral organisation in the world with over 1,200 members in Ireland alone.
