Nine year-old Bronagh Kelly from Clonard made the brave decision on her own to get 14-inches of her hair cut off to donate towards the Rapunzel Foundation.

Bronagh had been looking at Youtube videos of girls getting their long hair cut to donate towards the charity, who make hair pieces for sick children.

After some debate with her mother Sue, who adored her beautiful long blonde hair, she just could not refuse anymore as Rapunzel Foundation is a 'well-worthy charity.'

'I looked at the website and contacted Helen Keane to arrange a date. Soon after she called out and within 15 minutes her hair was 14 inches shorter,' said Sue.

Bronagh's father Richie and her mother discussed getting sponsorship cards and donating money to help another charity as well so naturally Bronagh picked Wexford Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The young girl has always been an animal lover of all types, often insisting that her mother buy extra bags of dog food, cat food and kitten milk to drop in to the WSPCA for the dogs and cats looking for a new home.

The WSPCA were delighted that Bronagh picked them and designed a special sponsorship card for her and as a result has given them €305 and bought more animal food with further donations she is still receiving.

Sue said people have been so kind donating money to Bronagh and would like to thank friends, family, teachers, neighbours, customers, and also co-workers.
