Businesses challenged to make their windows sing
WEXFORD businesses are being asked to make their windows sing during this year's Opera Festival.
The chamber, sponsored by Wexford Credit Union, is launching their 2013 Festival Windows Competition.
Open to everyone, the chamber asking all shop owners to join in the fun, embrace the essence of the Festival Opera and make the streets come alive.
There are three opera themes to choose from 'The Florentine Straw Hat', 'Thérèse' and 'Christina Queen of Sweden'.
The winner of each theme will go forward for the Best Overall Prize.
In addition to cash prizes, the winner of each 'Opera' will receive two tickets for that Opera with the compliments of Wexford Festival Opera.
'The Festival Windows Competition is a long held tradition that is part and parcel of the overall Wexford Fringe Festival and Wexford Festival Opera experience.
'It has a powerful potential to bring people into our shops and celebrate Wexford as a town bringing culture to life.
'Wexford Credit Union is delighted once again to be supporting this event,' said Ultan Ryan, Manager, Wexford Credit Union.
Chamber CEO, Madeleine Quirke said the windows competition was a great opportunity for Wexford to showcase its festival and creative spirit. 'I would strongly encourage all retailers to get involved in this year's competition and keep this unique and exciting tradition alive,' she said.
The closing date for entry is, Monday, October 21, together with entry fee of €30.
Judging will take place during the morning of Friday, October 25, and prize giving ceremony will take place at 6 pm in Wexford Credit Union on Friday, October 25.
