Car submerged at Raven Point
a CAR was found partly submerged off Raven Point on Tuesday morning.
The car, a 1998 Volkswagen Golf, was discovered by a local man out for an early morning run.
'It was submerged, but the dropping tide revealed it,' said the runner, who asked not to be identified.
'There was no sign of the driver and it was way down the end of the Raven,' he said, in an area without an access road.
'My guess is that it was driven across beach sand,' he said, adding that the car didn't appear to have been in the sea for long.
The Coast Guard and Wexford RNLI were unable to shed any light on how the car had got to the isolated beach.
Gardai said it appeared the car had been abandoned and they had no immediate concerns for the driver.
Council workers removed the car from the beach at low tide.
