Castlebridge Gospel Choir recorded a charity CD in aid of Wexford Down Syndrome, WSPCA and Castlebridge Day Care Centre and raised €3,500 which they presented last week.

'We were so thrilled with the support we got,' said Gospel Choir PRO Jessica Donohoe. 'We didn't expect that we would have to do a second production of CDs. Altogether we sold over 500.'

The choir presented two cheques of €1,500 each to Down Syndrome and the WSPCA, with the Castlebridge Day Care Centre receiving a special donation of €500 as well.

In addition the gospel choir decided to sell their CDs in Castlebridge one day, with the proceeds going towards the centre, who provide services to senior citizens.

After months of preparation the CD was launched last Christmas at €10 a copy. It had 12 tracks, consisting of festive hymns and popular anthem songs.

The non-profit organisation that has 25 voluntary members, including the band, donated any profits they made from weddings and events towards the production and the recording of the CD.
