A celebration to honour all involved with Rosslare Tidy Towns was recently held in Coisbarry house and people from across the community came to show their support.

The event was organised in light of the committee's recent success in the Supervalu Tidy Towns competition, in which they scored 308 points. In a speech to the masses, Chairman of Rosslare Tidy Towns Eamonn Sreenan acknowledged the role played by Wexford County Council, Wld, Pobal and all local organisations.

Mr Sreenan highlighted the fact that Rosslare gained eight points this year, as well as a bronze medal. He also noted that we were only 19 points behind the overall national winner Skerries.

A special tribute was paid to Peggy Stennett, a founder member of the movement in Rosslare. Mr Sreenan applauded the fact that she was recognised as one of only six Supervalu Community Heroes in the country.

Presentations were also made to representatives from the The Haven, Seabury and Clonmaine as the winners of this year's best kept estate competition. Special mention was made by Eamonn about his fellow committee members and Dave Clancy of Cois Barry Community House.
