Richard Brophy of Belgrove Bouncing Castles certainly had a spring in his step when he presented €2882 to St. Gabriel's Ward in Wexford General Hospital.

The Duncormick-based businessman raised the money with the help of his family by bringing bouncing castles to the Bannow and Rathangan Show. According to Richard, they had a special reason for donating to the ward.

'My little grandson Ryan was diagnosed with a heart condition,' he explained. 'He spends a lot of time in hospital. Everyone in the Wexford ward knows him.'

Staff at the hospital were delighted with the donation, which will be put towards future improvements.

'They are hoping to use it to do up the playroom,' said Richard.

Although Richard is thrilled with his achievement, he said that it wouldn't have been possible on his own.

'We had a huge amount of support from our sponsors who I have thanked on our Facebook page,' he said. 'I would especially like to thank Betty

Stafford and Ann White of the Bannon and Rathangan Show Committee for their help.'

According to Richard, visitors are already urging him to return to the show, which he says he hopes to do.

'It would be nice for the ward to know they will have funds to rely on,' he said.
