Sinn Fein Councillor Anthony Kelly is seriously ill in hospital after suffering a series of strokes.
Anthony, who is in his early 60s, is on a life support machine in the Intensive Care Unit of Wexford General Hospital after becoming ill on Tuesday night.
Former Independent councillor Padge Reck, who worked with Anthony's sister Mary at Joyce's, said he was deeply shocked to hear that he was unwell, having worked with him for a long number of years on the council.
'I always found him to be courteous and kind and he is a hard worker for his constituents,' said Padge, whose remarks were echoed by serving members of the county council.
