Clonard woman brews up some community spirit
when Carol Fox was made redundant five years ago, she decided to use her time to get to know her neighbours.
The Clonard-resident soon got involved with Ireland's Biggest Coffee Morning, an initiative that encourages people to host a coffee morning in aid of their local hospice. Owing to the success of the first gathering, Carol decided to make it an annual occasion.
'It went really well and it has become even more popular over the years,' she said. 'It became far too big to hold at home so I had to organise it elsewhere.'
This year will be no different. On Thursday September 17 from 10.30 am until 12.30 pm, Carol will bring her ever-popular coffee morning to Clonard Community Centre. Together with members of the centre, Carol hopes to raise vital funds for Wexford Hospice Homecare.
'We are asking people to show up on the day and donate what they can,' said Carol. 'All of the coffee and cake will be provided by us.'
