COCA-COLA have been given the go-ahead by Wexford Borough Council for their proposed €190 million facility in the town.

In the application, submitted on July 2, Atlantic Industries (Coca- Cola), sought permission to construct ‘a flavour manufacturing, development and storage facility’ on a 41 acre site within the Wexford IDA Business and Technology Park at Drinagh.

The development will comprise a large two-storey manufacturing building, an administration building and a utilities building, together with external facilities such as a tank farm, tanks, cooling towers, pipebridges, a process and sprinkler water tank and pumphouse, an abatement plant, wastewater processing tanks, firewater and attenuation ponds, an external boiler stack, a security guard house and other items of plant and equipment. Access to the site would be from a spur off the R730 within the IDA Business Park.

If it goes ahead, the facility is expected to create approximately 60 jobs after one year and over 100 jobs after five years of operation.
