WEXFORD Municipal District council will continue to support festivals in the town with its €125,000 annual budget.
District Manager Angela Laffan said the body has €125,000 for festivals and events annually.
Ms Laffan said: 'We will continue to support the significant festivals in Wexford town like the recent motor show, the marathons and the events on the quay.' She said soft support will be provided for resources and signs for smaller events.
Cllr Fergie Kehoe called for funding for the tall ships society and was told they are usually funded under the amenity grant scheme. Cllr Jim Moore sought additional funding for the 30th Kilmore Seafood Festival as it is a voluntarily run event, while funding was also sought for Marketa Matlova and Ms Laffan said extra funding can be allocated to her next year as this year's deadline has passed.
