Primary school children got in on the act during Art in the Open this year, painting pictures on the theme of 'My Wexford' for the honour of having the winning entries turned into flags on the quayfront by Wexford County Council.

The budding artists judged to be the winners were: Keelin Gallagher of Danescastle national school; Tara Stafford, Jane Murphy and Paddy Bramley of St. Iberius school; Sophia Zipoli of CBS Wexford primary; Nadine Whelan of Scoil Naomh Bride, Blackwater; Lilyana O'Neill, Raheen national school; Fiona Liu, Mateusz Barski and Trini Jurisoo of St. John of God school, The Faythe; Jack Browne of Scoil Mhuire, Coolcotts and Killian Cullen of Scoil Charman, Wexford. Older children enjoyed a weekend graffiti art workshop in a car park across from Wexford Bridge, conducted by local artist Jeff Dobson who painted a mural of iconic images on a wall in the same location.
