Court approves over €11,000 in settlements to young crash victims
Settlements totalling more than €11,000 were approved at the civil sitting of Wexford District Court on April 21 for two young brothers who were involved in a car crash almost seven years ago.
The court heard that the boys, from the Oylegate area, were back seat passengers in a car being driven by their father in June 2008 when a vehicle being driven by an employee of the company Air Separation Ltd. crossed to the wrong side of the road and caused a crash.
One child suffered no physical injuries but was nervous about travelling in a car for some months afterwards.
The other sustained bruising and some other relatively minor injuries that he quickly recovered from.
He too was nervous about being in a car for some time afterwards.
Judge Timothy Lucey approved an offer from Aviva Insurance of €5,000 for the first child and €6,000 for the other.
Also awarded were special costs to cover ambulance and A&E fees incurred at the time, and legal costs in respect of bringing the application.
