Accused of importing firearms

A 37 year old Polish man accused of importing firearms appeared before Wexford District Court on May 3.
But the case against Michal Ludwiczak of Alley Lane, Danescastle, Carrig-on-Bannow will be referred to the Circuit Court, it was indicated by Garda Sergeant Gary Rayner.
Ludwiczak, who followed proceedings with the assistance of an interpreter, stood charged with offences dating back to June of last year.
It was alleged that he had various items including an air rifle, two tins of pellets, a stun gun and seven hunting knives as well as cans of pepper spray at either Ballingly in Wellingtonbridge or Alley Lane.
Judge Gerard Haughton granted free legal aid and adjourned the case until July 4 to allow preparation of a book of evidence.
