Conviction despite two typographical errors

A couple of typographical errors could not prevent a conviction and fine for speeding handed down at Wexford District Court to Samantha Kelly (45) from 62 Port Side in Rosslare Harbour.
She was timed in breach of the 50 km/h limit at Ballygillane on October 26 last, as noted by Garda David Dempsey.
Ms Kelly's solicitor Siobhan Dunne sought to have the proceedings struck out.
Not only was the address on the summons given as 'Court Side' but the registration of the car seen speeding at 71 km/h was given on paperwork as 'X' rather than WX.
Judge Gerard Haughton proceeded to convict, with a fine of €150 recorded.
