An opportunity to avoid a public order conviction by making a contribution to the garda benevolent fund was missed by Kieran Moore (23) of Tullabards Little in Bridgetown.
He was prosecuted by Garda Barry Brennan after an incident at Monck Street on Saint Patrick's Day, evidence of which was given to Judge Gerard Haughton at an earlier sitting.
When the case was re-called in Wexford District Court on May 16, there was no sign of Moore and Sergeant Gary Rayner said he had no record of any contribution being made to the benevolent fund.
The judge went ahead with convicting the absent defendant of being intoxicated in public, fining him €150.
