Fines for drivers caught using mobile phones

Motorists caught handling mobile phone while driving were handed convictions at the District Court sitting in Wexford:

Jordan Scallan (20) from 44 Wolfe Tone Villas, Wexford, fined €150 for an offence at Ferrycarrig on February 13

Gabriela Morzek (30) of 45 Bellefield Springs in Enniscorthy, fined €150 for an offence in Latimerstown on January 1;

Paul Short (48) of Thistledo, Ballyfan, Carne Beach, fined €150 for an offence at Brickettstown in Taghmon on April 25;

Terry Walsh (39) from 70 Coill Aoibhinn, Newtown Road, Wexford, fined €150 for an offence at Newtown Road on December 17 last;

Thomas O'Rafferty (36) of Fort Chester, Inch, Gorey, fined €300 for an offence at Garrycleary on January 25;

Michael Cash (34) of 45 Long Meadow, New Ross, fined €300 for an offence at Assagart on February 22.

Adrian Morrisey (43) of Rathsilla in Adamstown, fined €300 for an offence at Assagart on February 22;

Michael Quigley of Harristown, Barntown, fined €300 for an offence at Ballindinas on March, 25.

The higher fines were imposed on offenders who did not attend the court in Ardcavan.
