Found with crowbar in hair salon

A MAN with a crowbar was found at the back of an Enniscorthy hair salon, Gorey District Court was told last week.
Thomas Power, (33), of 55 The Grove, Clonard, Wexford, was charged with entering Bridget's Hair Salon, Court Street, Enniscorthy, with the intent of committing a criminal offence on July 4, 2015.
Gardaí got a call about a possible burglary at the premises at 3.10 a.m. and went to investigate. At the back of the building they saw a skylight had been removed, and there was a ladder against the wall.
They soon came across the defendant in dark clothing and gloves, with a crowbar. He started to go up the ladder before being arrested. He had 25 previous convictions, mainly for similar offences, He was sentenced to 10 months in prison in January 2011 for burglary.
His solicitor Lana Doherty said her client has four young children. She explained that he had a severe drug addiction and got into massive drug debt, and was desperate for money. She said that nothing was taken from the salon, and the damage was minimal.
She added that he has done a self-detox as he couldn't get into rehab.
Judge Haughton sentenced him to 11 months in prison, but suspended it on condition he enter into a bond to keep the peace for two years.
