Nominating a driver who was out of the country to take the rap for a speeding offence earned haulier Timothy Doyle (56) of 1 Ivy Close, Coolcotts Lane in Wexford a €250 fine.
Doyle came to the attention of Garda Sergeant Charles O'Gorman as the registered owner of a lorry which broke a speed limit last year.
The accused nominated a Polish driver but later admitted that he made a mistake in doing so.
Wexford District Court heard from solicitor Pat McCarthy that the defendant had four lorries on the road and that the business was under pressure at the time.
