A verdict of accidental death was recorded in the inquest into the death of a Wexford town man at Wexford Coroner's Court last Thursday.
The body of Kevin O'Flaherty (52), 94 Upper John Street, Wexford was found by his sister Siobhan Whitehead on November 2, 2015 after she had tried to contact him. She had been on holidays in Spain and hadn't seen or spoken to him since October 22.
Mr O'Flaherty was found at the foot of the stairs.
Pathologist Dr Nigram Shah said he had performed the post mortem on Mr. O'Flaherty and found he had a skull fracture as well as some bruising.
County coroner Dr Sean Nixon said it was likely that Mr O'Flaherty had fallen down the stairs, causing the fractured skull. He added that the fall may have been caused by number of factors which presented in his blood results.
Mr O'Flaherty's sisters questioned Dr Shah on Mr O'Flaherty's prescription medications and also the level of medical care he had been receiving prior to his death. Dr Shah said that the post mortem results couldn't answer these questions.
County coroner Dr Sean Nixon recommended that the jury of six men return a verdict of accidental death which they agreed with.
Dr Nixon extended sympathy to the family of Mr O'Flaherty on their loss. Sympathy was also extended to the family by Inspector Pat Cody and the jury.
