Various motorists in court for holding mobile phones while driving

Motorists summonsed for holding mobile phones while driving were dealt with at the District Court sitting in Ardcavan on July 7.

The cases against John Cullen of Mooretown Great in Tomhaggard and Anthoney Murphy, Ballyclemlock, Newbawn were dismissed after they gave evidence they did not receive notice of a fine in the post.

Fines of €300 each were set for: Michael Berry, Crory, Ferns; Tracey Nolan of Riverside, Glasslacken, Bunclody; Anthony Sutton, The Maudlins, New Ross; James Connors, 25 Barrett's Park, New Ross.

Donna O'Brien of Apartment 4, Kylemore, Coolcotts Lane, Wexford was not only holding a phone at Harristown in Taghmon on December 10 (fine €300) but she also failed to produce her driving licence (another €300).

A fine of €150 was imposed on one offender who showed up in court: Timothy McGrath (35) of Ballymacane, Tacumshane.
