There was only one major lifeguard rescue from Wexford's beaches, rivers and lakes last month, according to data released by Irish Water Safety.
Lifeguards prevented 44 accidents in the county during July, while 55 people were provided with first aid. Wexford lifeguards reunited eight children with their parents on Wexford beaches and provided water safety advice to 210 people.
Irish Water Safety reported a total of 173 water-related casualties throughout Ireland in July, which stands at 240 less than this time last year. The decrease in incidents has been linked with the poor weather conditions which meant that less people were swimming.
