FOUR Lithuanians were arrested at Rosslare Europort on Wednesday (July 1) following the seizure of cannabis herb and resin with an estimated value of €185,000.
Gardai said the arrests were part of a joint operation into the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the South Eastern by gardai and officers from the Revenue Customs Services and took place following the search of a vehicle.
Revenue's drug detector dogs, Defor and Ralph assisted officers during the search of a Lithuanian-registered van which had disembarked a ferry from Cherbourg, France.
The four men, ranging in age from late-30s to the early-60s, were arrested at scene and were detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Traffickig) Act, 1996.
The gardai said the operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks.
Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities.
Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
