the DPP has requested further information in relation to historic allegations of sex abuse against a retired brother from the CBS in Wexford.
A senior garda spokesman said that so far the DPP had decided not to pursue further action in two of the cases.
Last week, local sources said the DPP had decided against taking any action in several cases, however, the garda spokesman has now moved to clarify the situation, saying more information has been requested in some of the cases, the files of which were still with the DPP.
He said he could not provide specific numbers or any further information.
The alleged offences against young teenagers took place at the CBS in the 1980s when the boys were aged around 12 or 13 years old.
According to a well-placed source, five or six people made allegations against the retired brother, who is living elsewhere in the country.
The brother, who is in his 70s, was interviewed by detectives from Wexford last year.
