Events puts spotlight on dealing with drugs
HIGHLIGHTING awareness about drug misuse in Wexford is the focus of a four day schedule of events organised by the Co. Wexford Local Drugs Task Force.
Drugs education; and prevention is priority for the task force who are using the them 'What to Do When Something Goes Wrong' for this years drugs awareness week.
People from all parts of the community and of all ages are being encouraged to participate in the events which are specifically designed to improve drugs awareness.
'We are running a variety of events which we hope will appeal to as many people as possible. By becoming involved in these events, Wexford people will inform themselves of the various responses and supports that are already available throughout the county,' says sub committee chairperson, Kieran Donohoe of FDYS.
The range of events includes an art exhibition by young people, a debate on drugs for teenagers, a holistic therapies morning for Family Support Group members, a soccer blitz run by young people and an information sharing morning on March 24 in Riverbank Hotel in Wexford, which is open to all.
The week will run from Tuesday, March 23 to Friday March 26 with events being held at various community venues. A copy of the schedule of activities is available from the Youth Information Centre on 053-9123262.
