Family fun day at Wexford Celtic grounds

Wexford Celtic Football Club is holding a family fun day on Saturday, at their grounds in Sinnottstown Lane, Drinagh.

As part of the event the club will be launching a new initiative to raise much needed funds for the national charity Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF).

'Let's put the boot into meningitis' will see all those unwanted football boots that children have grown out of, swapped on the day for just €5 a pair. All proceeds raised will be split between the club and MRF.

This fun day out will kick off at 12pm so make sure to pop down, especially as there will be a special guest on the day to help to launch this fantastic fundraiser. Rumour has it that he might have even kicked the odd football for Ireland in his day.

Mags Smart, the newly elected and first ever female Chairperson of Wexford Celtic F.C Parent's Group, is urging parents to get behind this worthy cause. 'Many of us have unwanted kids' football boots at home, most of which still have a lot of life left in them so this is a great opportunity to grab yourself a bargain whilst raising funds for a charity that is very close to my heart.'
