A Murrintown girl is making waves on the fashion scene and looks set to become a leading light in the industry.
Jenny Cleary, the daughter of Fintan and Colette, has been studying for her BA in Fashion Design in Griffith College for the last three years. The former Loreto Wexford student exhibited her final year collection at the Griffith College Fashion show recently.
Her six piece final collection was called 'Microscopic Marvel'. It was a young fresh sporty collection based on cellular structures seen under the microscope. She designed the vibrant digitally printed fabric herself. It was combined with white for a refreshing look.
The highlight of the night though was when Jenny discovered she had been awarded an internship with Fee G, an Irish designer company owned and run by Fiona Heaney.
Jenny is thrilled to have this great opportunity to work with one of Ireland's major design companies. This is the second time Jenny has been awarded an internship for her work. She received one in her first year of college to work with the Irish designer Jennifer Rothwell.
Jenny is also one of 20 finalists in the Frankfurt Style Awards, an international design competition and is the only Irish competitor in her section called 'Over the Rainbow'. Her design 'Freedom of Dreams' is based on butterflies and dreams and will also feature again digitally fabric designed by Jenny. She now has to start work on her dress for the competition before she travels to Frankfurt on September 5 for the final.
She also completed a two year City and Guilds course in Fashion Design at the Wexford Institute of Fashion Design.
