The FDYS is celebrating its 50 anniversary this month and is hoping to put together a presentation detailing its history.

FDYS is Wexford's local voluntary youth service and is asking people who used the service over the years to provide photographs, video clips, anecdotes and short stories about FDYS for a display they are planning to give at a gala dinner dance on November 20.

Kieran Donohoe of FDYS said: 'We would love to hear from youth club members, service users, volunteers and from anyone who has been involved in FDYS. Our founding stone was laid 50 years ago, in 1965. It is an achievement to have continued supporting our young people for that length of time.

To celebrate the milestone there will be a gala dinner dance on Friday, November 20 at 7.30pm in the Talbot Hotel, Wexford with tickets costing €25. Tickets are available from Lisa Clancy in FDYS Francis Street, Wexford (053) 91 23262 or any FDYS Office throughout County Wexford. A great night is promised and it is hope that volunteers, former youth club members and those who used FDYS services in the past will have the opportunity to meet, to catch up and to have great fun.
