FDYS changes opening hours in Wexford
After the recent success of its Suicide Awareness event, FDYS has announced its new schedule of opening hours for its Francis Street facility.
This new approach brings together the range of services available in FDYS and offers them to the young people in a seamless fashion and a number of programmes have been combined to ensure a more comprehensive suite of services is offered in an integrated way.
'We see this as a way to maximise the impact of all programmes and ensure we can develop more contact hours for young people to access our services,' said Sean Cooke, the recently-appointed Wexford Area Youth Service Manager for FDYS.
'Our staff are our core asset and we need to take advantage of their experience and professionalism in ensuring we connect with as many young people as possible and that when they come to us they receive the best service available.'
Slight changes will be made to previous opening hours, but will provide more contact hours for young people to attend.
The community youth project and young women's programme will continue to operate and an outreach programme will also be rolled out targeting unattached young people around the town.
'This is a particular need identified over time,' said Carolyn Brohan Senior Youth Worker, 'it is fantastic to have the opportunity to connect with young people in places they tend to hang out.
The new schedule will start from October 5, and further details are available from the FDYS reception at 053 9123264 or on the website www.FDYS.ie. You can also check out the Facebook page.
