As part of World Suicide Prevention Day, FDYS, the Youth Information Centre in Francis Street, Wexford will host a 'Love the Life You Live' event on Wednesday, September 9.

Youth Information Co-Ordinator Siobhan McMahon said the idea behind the event was to raise awareness around suicide prevention and was part of a national and international campaign.

The event will kick off at 4.30 p.m. with a workshop on Resilience and Hope followed by two hours of music from an array of local talent, in addition food will be served.

It will conclude with a twilight candlelight walk from Francis Street to the Bullring culminating in a circle of life

A prize will also be given to the winner of the FDYS Facebook little things campaign, a mental health and well being initiative run by the HSE's National Office for Suicide Prevention and focuses on highlighting the little things that make us smile.

'The campaign highlights that we all experience difficult times in our lives, and that when we do there are some simple little things that can make a big difference to how we feel. These little things can help us to cope with life's many challenges,' said Siobhan.

'This event is a small step in raising the awareness of young people, but we feel it is extremely important and necessary.'
