Female pedestrian killed on outskirts of Wexford town

Gardaí in Wexford are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Kellystown, Drinagh, in the early hours of Friday morning.

The collision occurred on the Wexford to Rosslare Road, just on the outskirts of Wexford Town, at approximately 1.30am when a car collided with a female pedestrian.

The female was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The identity or age of the deceased has not been positively identified at this stage and her body has been removed to the mortuary at Wexford General Hospital.

The 21-year-old male driver, the sole occupant of the car, was uninjured in the collision.

The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Examination. Local diversions are in place.
