FG's Hegarty tipped as new county council chair

fine Gael's John Hegarty is tipped to become the next chairman of Wexford County Council when the 'election' takes place in the council chamber in Wexford on June 19.

Mr Hegarty, who lives in Crosstown, Wexford, and is a former county footballer, is currently vice chair of the Gorey Municipal District, and, if elected, will take over the seat held by party colleague Cllr Paddy Kavanagh, from Drumgoold Lower, Enniscorthy.

Meanwhile, another Fine Gaeler, Cllr Jim Moore, from Kilmore Quay, is said to be in line for the Wexford mayorality when that vote takes place at the Wexford Borough District council annual meeting at the Wexford Arts Centre the evening on June 26, taking over the seat currently held by fellow Fine Gael party member Cllr Frank Staples, who lives in Ballycogley.
