Fáilte Ireland to tackle grant shortfall at the Heritage Park
DIRECT support from Wexford County Council for the operation of the Irish National Heritage Park in Ferrycarrig has dropped from the ¤ 50,000 awarded last year to this year's annual allocation of ¤ 20,000.
However, the shortfall will be tackled with the assistance of support from Fáilte Ireland, according to county manager Eddie Breen.
The case of the Heritage Park, which illustrates five millennia of history, was raised last week by Cllr. Kathleen Codd Nolan.
Her Fine Gael party colleague Cllr. Pat Codd noted that the restaurant at the park was doing well and he wondered whether the shortfall would be made up by the catering profits.
Eddie Breen explained that the Ferrycarrig attraction was now on Fáilte Ireland's radar.
Director of services Adrian Doyle confirmed that an application to the tourist authority was coming to fruition.
