Hit film Brooklyn which was set in Enniscorthy has been nominated in five different categories in the Moet British Independent Film Awards.

Irish talent was very much to the fore in the award nominations with Irish co-production The Lobster staring Colin Farrell also receiving seven nominations. Corin Hardy's The Hallow which was shot on location in Galway and Lenny Abrahamson's Room which was adapted from the book of the same name by Irish author Emma Donoghue also received a nomination.

The nominations for Brooklyn were: Best Actress for Saoirse Ronan, Best Supporting Actor for Domhnall Gleeson, Best Supporting Actress for Julie Walters, Best Screenplay for Nick Hornby, and Outstanding Achievement in Craft, for which Fiona Weir is nominated for casting. This follows on from Saoirse Ronan's win at the Hollywood Film Awards, at which she was presented with the New Hollywood Award by Ryan Gosling. The acclaimed Brooklyn, shot on location in Enniscorthy, went on general release last Friday.
