flags at the County Council headquarters and the town's Garda Barracks flew at half mast on Wednesday to mark the tragic deaths of six young students, five of them Irish, in the balcony collapse in California.

A Book of Condolence was also opened at the county council building by Mayor Cllr. George Lawlor on behalf of the county- and district councils for the people of Wexford to 'remember the victims of this terrible tragedy'.

Cllr. Lawlor said so many young people from County Wexford head for the USA on J1 visas and they and their family members can 'only too easily relate this tragedy'.
