Over 200 people turned up to leave their footsteps in the sand at a fundraiser on Curracloe beach which was organised by St. Joseph's GAA club.

Participants of all ages gathered on a beautiful morning to walk or run up to 10 km along the beach and through the forest at Ballineskar to raise money for a new playing pitch on a NAMA site acquired by the club.It was the third annual Footsteps in the Sand, an event that is getting 'bigger and better every year' according to club chairman Wayne Rogan.

A marquee was set up at Ballineskar where club volunteers carried out a clearance operation the day before, cutting back grass with Council agreement. Water and fruit were served before the walk and afterwards everyone gathered for a barbecue and celebration.'People stayed around until about 3 o' clock in the afternoon. We even had some holidaymakers turning up to do the walk and join in the fun,' said Wayne. The event was sponsored by the Premier, Uncle Sams, Bernie Doyle, Scallan Foods, New Century Roofing. Blue Diamond Window Repair and Brownes pub.
